How To Tell Your Skin Type: You have dry skin if you constantly need to moisturize to avoid getting dry and flaky skin and if you go without moisturizing, your skin can get really itchy. People with dry skin also can feel that after a shower or after washing or swimming, your skin feels uncomfortably tight.

Cleansing: People with this type of skin should use a cleanser or soap that is moisturizing and preferably free of alcohol and artificial perfumes as these can dry the skin out even more.

Moisturizing: Moisturizing is really important for this skin type. It’s best to apply your moisturizer right after a shower to lock the moisture in and it’s often beneficial to moisturize every morning and every evening.

Choosing a good moisturizer is essential for this skin type. Look for moisturizers that contain ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter and other natural ingredients that are naturally moisturizing as they help to lock in moisture into the skin.

Coconut oil is especially easily accessible for those in the Pacific and our ancestors have used it for generations before us. It is easily one of the best moisturizers around, especially when it’s pure like the handmade oils made in the villages. For those that may not like the scent of really pure coconut oil, there are many different types available now that come in different scents or are mixed with other ingredients in lotions and butters.

Pure Fiji is a well-known brand based in Fiji that uses natural coconut oil in its range of body lotions, body oils and body butters and come in a variety of scents. There are other brands in the Pacific region that also use natural coconut oil in its lotions etc. so it is mainly up to your preference and what works for you.
